Static Line Free Fall
It is the traditional and most affordable method of starting to skydive. Your Basic Course covers all the initial training and includes your first jump.
After a full training course you are taken to between 3,000 to 4,000 ft. You exit the aircraft alone under the expert guidance of your instructor.
As you let go of the aircraft you free fall for approximately 3 to 4 seconds. Your static line, which is attached to the aircraft deploys the main parachute for you.
A minimum of 17 jumps ( 9 stages) are required for you to complete the full student static line training table and gain your novice "A" license. The first 5 of these use a static line (the parachute is opened automatically as you exit the aircraft) and the rest are freefall jumps where you pull your own ripcord. Each freefall jump gets progressively higher until you are jumping from over 6000' and freefalling for over 20 seconds, this provides a gradual and affordable progression to your novice "A" license.
*** Each stage must be completed in order, static line training works on a pass/fail system, and each stage must be graded as a ‘pass’ in order to proceed to the following stage***
To be eligable for the "A" licence the static line course must be completed, be able to land 10 times un-assisted within 25 metres of the target and pack your own parachute and jump it.
